I am new to the group. SO I really do not know the history of the group.
Are things going well? Is the group expanding on the amount of seed they have or are they just staying about even.
Is everyone in about the same area of the country or scattered here and there?
The forums seem to have very little traffic.

we are spread out across both the US and Canada. We are growing slowly. With winter and the holidays there hasn't been much communication, most of that is either on the seed saver site or on the organic gardening website. another texan, bagins

Welcome Mary, Does it really stay too hot to plant a winter crop of beets where you live? If so, after this horrid winter, I am moving there.

Well, I planted beets in September. Not many came up. Still quite warm in September here.
I planted some October 19th and on DEC 9 they all froze. They were only about 1-2 inches tall.
We don't have much of a spring or fall. It tends to go from being hot to being cold, and the other way around, with not much in between temps to allow cool crops.
If anyone needs beets, celeriac or spinach seeds, I will send you some for SASE.

I am having problems with cool weather crops here, too. I think I can just keep trying and hope one season will hit all the right buttons to grow some broccoli or brussell sprouts. I have 3 flats growing inside now and plan to put them out in a few weeks. I just need to get the timing right. Peas dont' last long either, but they sure are good right out of the garden!
