Hi there, I am looking for info and seeds for Job's tears. I have some herb seeds to trade (lady's mantle, few different varieties of basil: green ruffles, red rubin, thai, lemon), radish, carrots. Please let me know if anyone is interested. Thanks.

I'll have to dig, but I did have Job's Tears in the spring. I got them in a trade, but the original packet was from the Seed Saver's Exchange. They need a long season, and although I planted them in May, they still haven't bloomed. There's not much hope for them now. If I try them again, I'd start them off indoors around March. The leaves are similar to eucalyptus, but no smell. Upright, light green with reddish-purple tinges to the leaves. They were beautiful seeds, once used as a grain crop in South East Asia, now more used as decorative beads. They are coloured from bluish white to a mid-grey/blue, but can be painted. There is a perfect, darning needle-sized hole that runs right through the center of the seed, which is about the same size as a kernel of corn. They are hard as a rock, they must need to be ground for an edible flour. Job's Tears are one of the few plants that have come along with mankind since we walked upright and before; worthy of following us into the space age. Give me a day to dig. I still haven't organized my seeds, and with the fresh ones piling up, it's going to be a big job!

Oh, thank you! I will be so grateful for them. With our long growing season, we shouldn't have any trouble growing them at all.

bekah I found the seeds. Sorry for the delay. email me at Shelley(underscore)Baptie11(at)msn.com to give me your address. I write out mine to keep away spamming, a trick Elfie at OG taught me.
